Getting around in China - Qingdao, Zoucheng, Hengshui

Q: What is the easiest and fastest way to get from Qingdao to Zoucheng City and then from Zoucheng to Hengshui city? How often does the transport go to these and the travelling times?

we assume that you're referring to Zoucheng in western Shandong Province and Hengshui in southern Hebei Province. You can travel from Qingdao to Zoucheng by train. Distance is 550 km and train ride time seven and a half hour. One train leaves 7:00 or so in the morning and the other departs around 3:00 in the afternoon. Qingdao Railway Station has been under renovation and expansion since 2006. The station was scheduled to reopen June this year, but it looks like it's going to be early August when Qingdao Railway Station will be back in use. For the time being, to travel by train from Qingdao to Zoucheng, one needs to board the train at Cangkou Railway Station, which is a train station about 15 km from Qingdao Railway Station.

You can probably also travel by long distance bus from Qingdao to Zoucheng. There are several long distance bus stations in Qingdao, so you need to ask around to find your bus.

There do not seem to be direct train link between Zoucheng and Hengshui. One can, however, board a train in Yanzhou which goes to Hengshui. Yanzhou is very close to Zoucheng; if you go by train, it is just 20 minutes away from Zoucheng. From Yanzhou to Hengshui it is a train ride of four and a half hour - the distance is 340 km. The train from Yanzhou to Hengshui, however, leaves rather early, 7:40 in the morning. You may want to look into it to see if there are other trains. It is also possible that you can find buses that travel between the two cities.

Zoucheng is 180 km south of Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province. Hengshui is about 180 km northwest of Jinan. Beijing is 270 km north of Hengshui.
