The location of Beijing Huaqiao Hotel

Q: Could you tell me about Beijing Huaqiao Hotel? Someone mentioned it has a good location and is close to major attractions in the city. How far is it from Beijing Capital International Airport. Thank you.

Beijing Huaqiao Hotel is now known as Traveler Inn Huaqiao Beijing. Huaqiao means "Overseas Chinese." The hotel was started in the 1950s to serve overseas Chinese who return to China to travel and visit. The old building was torn down at the end of the 1980s and the hotel was rebuilt. So it is modern and up to date in terms of facilities and services. Because of its past, the architecture and decoration are of a traditional Chinese theme. The hotel is located in the heart of Beijing. Standing next to China Art Gallery, it is at the northern end of Wangfujing Street, a prime shopping street in the city. It is also next to China Art Gallery. It is a couple of miles from Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and North Sea Park. If one does not mind walking, he can get to these attractions on foot. The hotel is about a cab-ride of about 15 minutes or so to Beijing Railway Station. A short distance away is also what people in Beijing call “Gui Jie,” which is a street lined with a large number of restaurants, and Sanlitun Street, which is known as the Street of Bars. If you intend to explore these places, Beijing Huaqiao Hotel is conveniently located.

As for the airport, it is about 40 minutes or so east of downtown Beijing.
