Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Xian

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built in 652 AD. It was one of the oldest and best known pagodas in China. The famed Buddhist monk and traveler Xuan Zang used to reside at the temple where the Big Wild Goose Pagoda stands. Here Xuan Zang translated into Chinese the voluminous Buddhist sutras that he personally brought back from India.
