Guan Gong - Lord Guan
A folk sculpture of Guan Yu, a historical figured deified as a guardian of peace. Popularly known as Guan Gong - Lord Guan, Guan Yu was a general in the period of Three Kingdoms in Chinese history. Known for remarkable loyalty and bravery, the general became a legendary figure and then a immortal in China's popular religion. In many parts of China today people still put his likeness around their residences to keep out evil spirits and safeguard the household. Guan Gong figures prominently in the Chinese literary classic, Romance of Three Kingdoms, in which he fought for the State of Shu and died for the cause of his king.
