Train Tickets Sold 20 Days in Advance for China's National-Day Holiday 2014
If you plan to take a train ride in China during the upcoming National-Day holiday, you should purchase, or try to purchase, your ticket now. Tickets have now become available for traveling that take place on October 1 and thereafter. The advance sale period for train tickets has been lengthened to 20 days so as to help ease the pressure of holiday traveling. The 20-day advance sale applies only to purchases online or by telephone. At train stations and ticketing officies the advance sale period is 18 days.
The Naitonal-Day celebration is one of the most important holidays in China, which the Chinese have nicknamed a "Golden Week." Large numbers of Chinese will travel to visit families or go on tourist trips. This year the National-Day holiday extends from October 1st (Wednesday) to October 7th (Tuesday). September 28th, Sunday, will be a work day, as is October 11th, Saturday.
For the transporation industry, the peak period goes from September 28th to October 7th. Those who do not have to travel in China during these days should try to avoid the rush. Railway authorities are forcasting a total of 92 million passengers who will travel by train in China during the National-Day holiday 2014.
