[img_assist|nid=870|title=|desc=|link=popup|align=right|width=147|height=180]Having hosted the International Horticultural Expo twice in the past twelve years, China will be the site again of the world's top gardening show, this time with popular travel destination Xian as the site.

Xian, which is known for, among other things, the First Qin Emperor's Underground Terracotta Warriors, has been actively preparing the event. A horticultural garden, 265 hectares in area, has been built in the Chanba district of the city. It is estimated over 10 million people will visit during the period when the expo is on - from April to October.

International Horticultural Expo is an exhibition recognized by AIPH, the organization of worldwide horticultural producers. The history of the horticultural expo can be traced back to 1851, when London put on a global gardening show. Chinese city Kunming hosted the 1999 International Horticultural Expo; seven years later, Chinese city Shenyang was the site of 2006 show.
