Kunshan Satellite Airport Terminal Opens for Service
Starting January 20, travelers in Kunshan, Jiangsu, can utilize a local terminal to fly out of Shanghai Pudong Airport.
The new satellite terminal for Shanghai Pudong Airport is located on Qianjin Zhong Lu (Qianjin Middle Road), a short distance from downtown Kunshan. Passengers can obtain their boarding passes here and take a shuttle bus to catch their planes at Pudong Airport. The bus ride to the airport takes an hour and half. Services at the Kunshan terminal are meant for flights of China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airline. Connections to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport are expected to be added later.
It is 45 km from Kunshan to downtown Shanghai, and an additional 35 km to Shanghai Pudong Airport . Suzhou is 20 km west of Kunshan. Wuxi Shuofang Airport is 40 km northwest.
With a population of 750,000, Kunshan, a county-city, is one of the most economically robust localities in China. With a per capita GDP of $30,000, it is the country's richest small city.
